Department of Physical Education and Sports (Gymkhana):
Introduction: - The department of physical education has been established in 1972. It has been promoting sports culture in our college. Our students are given an opportunity to follow sports like Volleyball, Handball, Ball badminton, badminton, Kabbadi, Kho-Kho Discuss Throw, Javelin Throw, Hammer Throw, Long Jump‚, etc.
Since inception the physical education teacher Prof.N.L.Kawade through his vision tried hard to implement the culture of physical education in the rural students by organizing rural games like wrestling tournaments ,athletics ,Kabbadi and so on from the period 1972-2003,which amounts to a large 31 years of legacy .
Further the same tradition was taken to the new heights by the new emerging physical educationist in the year from 2003 till date in which Prof.B.S.Jagtap,and Prof.R.M.Chavan are still continuing the rural culture of sports and games and new sportsmen are created which are serving in different fields like government jobs, teaching and so on.
Legacy:- The department enjoys a legacy of individual as well as team games top sportspersons who have taken the name of the college to various level like district ,zonal ,state and national level as well as university level ,which include Runners-Up place in Women Kabbadi in year 2012-2013in Inter-Collegiate Competition organized by Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar University Aurangabad.
From the Second Cycle of NAAC the department of physical education and sports has created 14 University Players in Women Kabbadi and Football Men which stretches from 2013 till date 2022. Our College is the only college which has been participating in the Football Men Inter-Collegiate Tournaments organized by Dr.BAMU, Aurangabad from the Osmanabad District and is regularly playing in the Quarter-Finals for the last 4 years. The same case is with the Women Kabbadi Team which regularly contributing to the Dr.BAMU University Team by providing talented Kabbadi Women Players which are bringing name good name to the University as well as the College and to the rural region at large.
Community: - Apart from the sports part the department is also contributing to the community by spreading the concept of healthy lifestyle by organizing walk- marathon for the elders who are above age 50 years, which is conducted on the eve of the founder of the Institution “Karmaveer Mamasaheb Jagdale”. Also from the inception of the International Yoga Day on the Date of 21st June 2015 the college is celebrating this day with the students and imparting the value of healthy ways to live a stress free life which has become very important for the youth of today.
Infrastructure: Gymkhana provides all necessary facilities for outdoor as well as indoor games, yoga, and health activities that create interest in sports and games among our students. The department has also availed a well-equipped Gymnasium hall in an indoor sports building for students, teachers, and support staff. Students as well as staff can use the multi-gym for various recreational activities in the evening and morning for maintaining their fitness which is free of cost.
Alumni: The Department of Physical Education and Sports has a long list of sportspersons who are selected in various government jobs like Police, SRPF, CRPF, Army, and other sectors.
