Our Inspiration

Karmveer Dr. Mamasaheb Jagadale was a sage, saint and a saviour of the people of the lower strata of the society, and founder of Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Barsi. Dr. Mamasaheb enlivened, enkindled and inspired rural population of Maharashtra in general and of Solapur and Osmanabad Districts in particular. Our Alma mater came into being at the instance of the prolonged efforts tenacity of purpose and the burning aspiration of Karmveer Mamasaheb. Mama was unrivalled, unequalled and unparalleled in the domain of the spreading of education and learning among the weaker sections of the society. Among the glittering multitudes of mighty educationalists the name of Karmaveer Jagadale Mama stood forth in bold relief as the author of momentous educational and erudite revival, Mama stood as a beacon to light up the path of those who groped in the darkness of ignorance and poverty in the fields of Education as well as medicine and surgery. Karmaveer Dr.Mamasaheb Jagadale has struggled for the betterment of the downtrodden masses up-to his last breath. He received inspiration and serious thought from the able minds of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Maharshi V.R. Shinde, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil and others. Karmaveer Dr. Mamasaheb Jagadale was born on 4th February 1903 at Bhikar Sarola (Dist.Osmanabad). He had completed his education up-to Matriculation and had aspirations for higher education, but due to lack of financial and educational facilities he could not complete university education. The unsatisfied desire of higher education, led him to start educational institution which is known as "Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Barsi". He developed this institution with his selfless service and even by sacrificing his own married life which proved his name, 'NIVRUTTI' in the real sense of the term. He struggled for welfare of women, untouchables and neglected sections of the society. Credit of today's betterment of social, educational, and cultural situation in this region goes to Dr. Mamasaheb Jagadale. For his humanitarian outlook and outstanding work, Marathwada University, Aurangabad and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri awarded him D.Lit. and D.Sc. respectively. After serving day and night for almost five to six decades, Karmaveer Mamasaheb realised the urgent need of Medical Services for people from poor classes. The main aim was to provide utmost care and high quality medical services at reasonable rates to the needy and the poor people. In 1975 on February 4th, Karmveer Mamasaheb started "Arogya Mandir" Hospital with 10 beds and small surgical unit. Because of his total dedication, devotion and determination, this hospital developed very fast and the different wings started adding their medical contribution with high standard medical services to the poor. He passed away on 30th May 1981 leaving behind us the legacy of social work. He is now our inspiration and spark plug to fulfill his thoughts and ambitions.



KMJ Mahavidyalaya Washi

Karmaveer Mamasaheb Jagdale Mahavidyalaya, Washi, Tal- Washi, Dist. Osmanabad was established in 1972 and affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. The objective of the college is “Higher Education for uplifting and Empowerment of Rural, down trodden Masses and Women”. The beginning was made with only Arts and Commerce faculties. The faculty of Science was introduced in1989. The institute proposed to run the courses, which are required education in the field of computer. The demand for computer courses is on the topmost priority of the 21st Century. The beginning has been made with B.C.A., B.C.S. and B.Sc. computer science courses. The Courses would not only enhance and promote students in the Computer field but also will create competent and self-reliant which is the basic aim of the course. The college is having 10 Acres campus in the town with beautiful garden and internal roads. The independent degree classes with well-equipped laboratories, Library with reading room, a good Auditorium, Computer Center having sufficient number of computers, server, scanner, printer with internet facility and generator back up facility, also a girls hostel with having all facility. This college is pioneering and model rural college in the area. The teachers not only impart knowledge but are always engaged in research. Social commitment is above all activities of the college.
An Academic and Broad Vision
The social Reformer and visionary personality Late Dr. Karmaveer Mamasaheb Jagdale, established Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Barshi in 1934 with noble objective of enlightening the ignorant, illiterate and suppressed people in the rural area around Barshi town. Nowadays so many branches from K.G. to P.G. in academic, professional and medical fields have been striving hard to realize the dream of the founder by giving quality education in schools and colleges run by it. The Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal has strived hard from last 69 years to achieve the aims with the motto “Eak Meka Sahya Karu, Avage Dharu Supanth” (एकमेंका साह्य करू अवघे धरू सुपंथ) and succeeded to a large extent. The president and the entire executive body have strived to lead the institute and its new branches towards educational excellence.
